A visual depiction of how many times in my life I move against the current, honestly speaking, and asking honesty out of those around me. Painted in 2013 after making the decision that I could no longer work and teach for the City of Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks because of corruption and lies that directly impacted the studio where I taught. The city plan was to remove a huge expanse of glass block windows in a room with a high ceiling, and replace them all with concrete block. Why? They said "the windows were making the roof leak". An obvious lie. This is from the Director of Parks and Recreation, Alan McKnight. By appealing to Columbus City Council I saved most of the windows in my building and two other buildings. I also decided I could no longer work there. I loved and still love the many art students I worked with there for over 21 years. Thus... moving against the current.
