Artist's Description
Interior view looking into central courtyard at Fort Macon, North Carolina. This navel fort was built in sand dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at what is now called the Fort Macon State Park. Construction of the fort took place between 1826 to 1834. It has been used in three wars and as a military prison. It is my hope that it will never again be needed for war, but will remain a museum relic of times past. 2014
