Description
A sign on an iron fence for a very old cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. This is in the area of the Harvard Campus, near the city of Boston. It seems to me that the current word "slaves" on the sign, could be improved upon. I am not sure how we make all this better, but this seems wrong. How about "those kidnapped, sold, and forced to work for no pay" rather than just saying "slaves", and for their owners buried here something like this, "those that would participate in having other humans kidnapped, sold into slavery, and then force them to work for no pay their entire life, and the whole life of their children, and their children". How do we shrink it all down to a few words for a sign such as this, when the issue just can not be shrunken? I am not sure what the answer is, but this just seems wrong. June, 2014.
