Description
Sea Turtle eggs in a nest in the sand. This photo was taken while a volunteer was moving the nest. The mother had made the nest too close to the ocean, in the cool wet sand. Their was concern that the eggs would not hatch unless in warmer sand. The group that over see the safety of the sea turtles moved the nest. This is one of the few reasons a turtle nest is allowed to be moved. This nest had over one hundred eggs. The egg shell is soft, more like a sturdy leather pouch than like a hard chicken egg. Blessings to this man and the many volunteers that keep these animals safe. South Carolina, USA. 2006
