Description
The view into a sea turtle nest while the eggs were being relocated. A volunteer of a sea turtle nest patrol group was there, and he had opened up the nest and was very carefully gathering these eggs along the Atlantic Ocean. The nest was relocated because it was too close to the water, keeping the sand temperature too cool. The baby turtles need warmer sand to grow and hatch. This is one of the few reasons a turtle nest is allowed to be moved. This nest had over one hundred eggs. The egg shell is soft, more like a sturdy leather pouch than like a hard chicken egg. Blessings to this man and the many volunteers that keep these animals safe. South Carolina, USA. 2006
